Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and the province of Florence. The surrounding countryside was home to the country estate of Conte and Contessa di Salvatore.

History

For the sake of his daughter Katarina's health, Baron von Swartzschild took his daughter, and her maid Gudren, to stay at the Salvatore estate one summer between 1515 and 1518. The baron was away from the estate for some time, having business in Florence.[1] Gudren went into the city secretly on Katarina's command to have one of the many silversmiths there forge three talismans - one for Damon, one for Stefan,[2] and one for Katarina.[3]

After Stefan Changed into a vampire, he wandered the dark side streets of Florence and decided not to feed on human blood.[4] He lived beyond the city gates, feeding on animals, until Damon returned to the city as the condottiero of one of the Free Companies, and telepathically told him that he would kill him if he was still there when he arrived, leading him to flee.[5]

Damon and Stefan returned to Florence in 2014, staying at a hotel on Via Tornabuoni. They returned to Fell's Church in June. Before leaving, Stefan picked some vervain, which was growing outside of the city.
